SuSE Linux Professional 9.3 review:2 stars (If you love your MBR) - I attempted to replace Fedora 2 with Suse 9.3 on a dual-boot machine because some of the c libraries in Fedora were causing problems with compiles of scientific software. The Suse distro corrupted my MBR and I lost both Windows and Fedora. Repaired Windows. Backed up files. Re-installed Suse. Found it to be like what would happen if Windows XP and Fedora 2 lived on a nuclear waste dump and had a baby. Now I have installed ubuntu, and I find it to be much less crappy. Save your money. Install Debian or ubuntu. Suse is great for finding a worse way to do everything you can do in XP. Suse is the Fiat of the OS world - looks cute, but does it run...sometimes...when the weather is nice and you have nowhere to go but downhill.5 stars (Great operating system) - I have to admit Suse isn't my first choice as a linux distro, I have
always used mandrake. A friend of mine bought a new computer and he gave me his old one, so I decided to install suse to try it out.
From start to finish I am highly impressed.
The install process is simple to follow. I decided to use the entire disk so there was no need really to partion it. I just set up a 128 mb swap partition.
The package selection is great and very easy to follow. I won't go into lenghthy detail about all the packages you can read them in the preveiw or on their site.
I would say Suse is one of the better linux distros that there is. Try it, you see. Hey it even comes spyware free. 5 stars (Very stable and well polished Linux distro.) - Well as far as a concern for usability goes SuSE is the best Linux distro. To my taste id is much superior to Red-Hat. But getting the distro it is only a beginning! It is very cool OS and you will learn much about it. It is going to be easy if you have some general UNIX skills already and if you not I would recommend "UNIX Essentials" DVD.
SuSE is very user friendly and very updated. It is easy to use and that is very important to me it is FUN to use. Enjoy it.
